Sikkim and Darjeeling Hit with Earthquake


Sikkim & Darjeeling hit with the 6.8magnitude earthquake on 18th Sep 2011 had shaken hopes of high season touristincoming from October onwards. Being Sikkim as Epicentre of quake, is thusworst hit, many of tourists from Domestic and international regions makequeries for travel to Sikkim and Darjeeling, who have already planned theirvacations for these tourist spots.

Both North and West Sikkim, are the favourite travel destinations for Himalayantravellers, is expected to cast a long shadow on the tourism sector thisseason.

According to a Hindustan Times report, a number of holidayers have alreadystarted leaving the popular leisure destination. 
Main Tourist spots such asGangtok, Pelling and Kalimpong has been hit by quake and also due to badweather conditions, Heavy rains and landslides were hampering rescue work andlocals were in a state of shock.
The rehabilitation work isgoing on and hopefully Sikkim will recover soon this natural curse andreinstate its people and tourism again.
