Karnataka Tourism Dept. to promote tourism in 'Coffee Land' Kodagu districtINR 7 crore to be spent to promote tourism-related activities which includes projects to promote tourism in Kodagu district, also called 'Coffee Land', which has shown tremendous increase in tourists. As per a UNI report, tourism Department sources told that the district, which is a gift of nature by itself, has been attracting increasing number of tourists over the years.
District headquarters of Kodagu Madkeri is 1,525 meters above the sea level. Termed as the Scotland of India, the town has several attractions. Undulating hills, verdant forests, endless expanses of tea and coffee plantations, uneven streets and awe-inspiring views convert Madikeri of Karnataka into a wonderful tourist destination.
